OVERVIEW
As an Apprentice IT Support and Telecoms Technician at ITCS, you will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This role will provide you with comprehensive exposure to all aspects of IT support and telecommunications within a managed service provider (MSP). You will work closely with our experienced team, developing essential skills and knowledge to kick-start your career in IT.
Qualifications required
Expected (Not Essential):
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including Maths and English.
Desirable:
A GCSE or equivalent qualification in IT or a related subject.
Any additional IT-related qualifications or certifications (e.g., CompTIA IT Fundamentals, BTEC in IT).

What could your typical tasks include?
Laptop and PC Builds and Repairs:
Assemble and configure new laptops and desktop computers according to company standards and specific customer requirements. Diagnose and repair hardware issues on PCs and laptops, including component replacements and upgrades. Perform routine maintenance and software updates on company and client machines.
Phone Configurations and Setups:
Set up and configure office phones for new users. Troubleshoot and resolve basic issues related to phone configurations and connectivity.
Basic Server and Remote Work:
Assist with basic server maintenance tasks, such as updates, backups, and monitoring. Support remote work setups, ensuring employees have access to necessary resources and connectivity.
Use of AV and RMM Tools:
Utilise antivirus (AV) software to protect company and client systems from malware and security threats. Employ Remote Monitoring and Management (RMM) tools to monitor client systems, perform remote troubleshooting, and deploy updates. Assist with the review of reports from AV and RMM tools to identify and address potential issues.
IT Support:
Provide first-line technical support to clients via phone, email, and in-person. Log and manage support tickets, ensuring timely resolution and excellent customer service.
Telecoms Support:
Support the installation and configuration of telecoms equipment, including VoIP systems. Troubleshoot telecoms issues and work with vendors to resolve complex problems. Provide training and support to clients on the use of telecoms systems and features.
Exposure to MSP Services:
Gain experience across all services offered by ITCS, including cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and IT consultancy. Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance your understanding of MSP operations. Collaborate with different departments to ensure a holistic understanding of all services offered.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. Assist in creating and updating user guides and technical documentation. Report on daily activities and progress to supervisors, contributing to team efficiency.
Learning and Development:
Attend training sessions and workshops to further develop technical skills and knowledge. Engage in self-study and online courses to stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and best practices. Work under the mentorship of experienced technicians and engineers to gain practical insights and guidance. Completion of college qualification.
